Clean up your desk. That’s how. Problem: solved.
Unless you don’t work at a desk, or you are one of those people who feels more productive at a messy desk. Some people embrace chaos and can let their creative juices flow more freely when their surroundings aren’t neat as a pin. But I have trouble with that. The only thing I can let flow freely is the Pine-Sol. It’s an annoying trait. “Let’s make cookies kids! But first, who wants to sanitize the sink?! Where are you going?”
But either way, we can all agree that Denise’s after desk looks pretty snazzy compared to the plain-Jane before. The black and gold is so classy and timeless. Super cool chair too. I feel more productive just looking at it!

September 9, 2014 at 10:59 AMI fall somewhere in-between ‘neat as a pin’ and chaos; depending on my mood and how much energy I have left after hauling and painting furniture…lol. Lindsey, thank you so much… what a great surprise to be featured on Better After!

September 9, 2014 at 11:32 AMI have a little sign that says “A creative mess is better than idle neatness.” You can’t be really productive if you’re overly concerned about keeping things clean. That being said, I can’t stand to make a mess on top of another mess. I like to start out with a clean surface and tidy up at the end of the day, even if I’m just going to continue with the same project tomorrow. It’s the only way I can maintain control. Once things get too messy, I get overwhelmed and I don’t know where to start to get it back to being clean again.
I love this desk makeover. The new stain and paint make a huge difference. I think my favorite thing is the new handles – updated but still traditional.

September 14, 2014 at 7:12 AMWhen you said black and gold and classic in the same sentence, I was like, um hardly. But then I look at the desk and it’s true. I love it. It makes me think of something my grandmother would have in her house which is a total compliment. She has the best taste and sadly is way more hip than me. She loves to decorate and every time I visit her something in her living room is different.
